Description

Is your Treadmill Belt Slipping, Stopping, Squeaking?

Treadmill making a squeaking noise?  This is often the sign of a slipping drive belt.

The Drive/Motor belt is located under the motor housing cover and if it becomes too loose it can slip.  This in turn can cause the running belt to slow or stop.

Below are instructions as to tighten the belt and stop the squeak.

Incline Treadmill To Maximum
Turn Off and unplug the Treadmill.
Remove the housing cover.
Loosen the plate holding the motor in place, (usually 4 bolts/nuts).
Loosen the locking nuts on the adjuster bolts.
Turn the adjuster bolts half a turn to tighten the drive belt.
Tighten the motor plate and locking nuts
Test the treadmill under load.
Tighten Further if necessary.
Replace Cover when finished.
Customers are often confused between slipping drive belts and slipping Running belts.  Remember, a squeaking belt is usually a sign that your drive belt needs tensioning.

Remember safety first.  Ensure all machines are turned off and unplugged prior to removing covers.

This video gives details of how to adjust the belt on our own GTC Titan machine, (actual showroom model featured). The general principle of adjustment may be used for many other treadmills.
